Adult Education WebQuests to Download
The following WebQuests were created in Word. Download the WebQuests and post them on the desktop of your lab or classroom computers for use by the adult learners in your literacy program. WebQuests provide a structured use of the Internet in instruction. Consult the Teacher Information Pages for information regarding SCANS and CASAS Competencies addressed by the activities of the WebQuests and for implementation guidance. All or parts of any of the WebQuests below might be appropriate for use in your adult literacy program.

Make Your Consumer Voice Heard: A WebQuest for Family Literacy, Adult Education and Advanced ESL Students
This WebQuest is designed to empower learners with the tools necessary to become informed consumers. In addition to a wide range of life skills competencies, this activity encourages learners to use both oral and written communication skills as they apply to a real-life situation. A unit of study involving consumerism would be enhanced by the implementation of this web-based project.

Wheels!: A WebQuest for Family Literacy, Adult Education and Advanced ESL Students
Purchasing a car can be a daunting task, and one that almost everyone must face at some point in their lives. This WebQuest is designed to lead the learner through a step-by-step process involving how to choose a make and model, research safety records and gather insurance quotes. It would be an appropriate addition to a life skills instruction program, either as an introductory or culminating activity.

Ready, Set, PARENT!: A WebQuest for Family Literacy, Adult Education and Advanced ESL Students
Appropriate parenting skills are a crucial element in many adult education programs, and this WebQuest enables the learner to explore a variety of useful parenting information from proper nutrition to choosing age-appropriate toys. This extensive project would be an excellent culminating activity for a life skills or parenting unit within an adult education or advanced ESL curriculum.

Let's Go Out to Eat!: A WebQuest for High Intermediate and Advanced ESL Students
Designed to increase students proficiency and comfort level when dealing with public social situations, this WebQuest simulates an actual visit to a virtual restaurant with a group of friends. Both oral and written communication forms are addressed, as well as a variety of key life skills competencies. This activity would be useful within the context of any competency-based ESL curriculum; and especially appropriate within a unit of study involving social communication skills. Use of a video camera is especially helpful in this activity, as it allows the students to view their interactions and speech patterns as they carry out their role-playing task.
